What’s Up | 05/28/12

A quick update on my life – life’s been good! I find that for the most part, as long as I’m well-fed and well-rested, I tend to be a happy camper. And well-fed and well-rested I’ve been!

This past weekend, I visited home in SoCal and spent some quality time with my family. On Saturday, my mom, brother, and I drove to the Palm Springs area – to pick up my pillow that I’d left at the motel I stayed in during Coachella.

How did I convince them to take a 4-hour road trip with me? Easy, just told my brother that there would be good food (we ate at the buffet in the Morongo casino) and told my mom that there would be good shopping (we stopped by the Cabazon Outlets).

But overall, I had a great time just catching up with them, taking turns driving, and introducing my mom to Queen and the legend of Freddie Mercury (blasted Bohemian Rhapsody like so). Oh, and getting that pillow back was good, too. I’ve had it for probably 7 years now, and nothing comes close to beating it in comfort.

The past week has definitely been a busy one at work. We had such a successful expo at D.C., with a lot of great leads. We had to organize those leads somehow in order to follow up, so naturally, the task of data entry and importing to our CRM software fell upon me.

Even though it was a lot of work, I felt great after seeing the hot leads imported and knowing that our time spent in D.C. could potentially see an impressive payoff. The next few weeks, I’ll be working on various marketing strategy projects, so I’m definitely looking forward to that!

I’ve been playing basketball with Jay and some other people most weekday nights. It’s been a lot of fun to be back in the gym for more than once every two weeks a la regular semester. My shot’s definitely improved – it’s amazing what a few sessions of just shooting the basketball will do to help.

I’m driving back to Berkeley tomorrow afternoon, and I’ll be working three more weeks at my current internship before switching to my other one. There should be more students coming back for summer school and internships, so hopefully I’ll be able to catch up with some friends as the summer continues.

I think I have a new item to add to my summer bucket list: karting. Not the kiddie kind, but the real deal (not as fast as the one in the video, though). There are a few places in the Bay Area that have good reviews . Looks like a lot of fun and is bound to be an adrenaline rush. Now I just need to find others who’d be interested – drop me a message if you are!

Alrighty, that’s about it for now. I intend to blog a bit more in the coming days. I’ve had a lot of ideas and topics “simmering” in my mind recently, on a whole range of topics. Only time will tell if they get transcribed to the blog, but stay tuned!
