Another travel day from Rome to Barcelona. Morning flight, a bit later than usual (10 AM), went by without a hitch. We were in our last country before returning to London by noon, checked into our hostel, and had a nice Spanish lunch at a restaurant nearby.

We’re staying at a hostel right next to La Rambla, one of the most famous tourist streets in Spain, a huge street with a mile of shops, street performers, and restaurants. The atmosphere is crazy festive – people filling up every space of the sidewalks, mimes painted as statues (some of the craziest I’ve seen), and a large pier at the end of the road filled with docked yachts and a nice shopping mall.

For each new country we travel to, we usually spend the first day resting up and recovering from lack of sleep. So today we took a really nice stroll to the end of the pier, did some window (and actual) shopping at the mall, and strolled back to the plaza where we got off our airport shuttle.

All in all a relaxing day, which is great because the next few days will be pretty hectic. We’re doing a walking tour of Barcelona tomorrow, taking an overnight bus to Madrid and spending a couple more days there, and finally taking another overnight bus back to Barcelona for one day before flying out to London.

In the meantime, I’ll try to continue to update my blog, and I just might be posting up new food blog posts soon – we’ve tried quite a few amazing places in our travels so far. So head over to The Food Spotlight and read about my take on European food!

Stay tuned and read about my other adventures in London, Paris, Berlin, and Italy!
