FYF & Treasure Island Music Festivals 2013 Lineups

I know I haven’t written too much since the last month of college, and I owe it to myself and my readers to start sharing some of my thoughts and reflections, plus some updates. Those are in the works and will be up soon – stay tuned!

In the meantime, thought I’d share a couple of sweet music festivals that I’ll be attending this coming summer and fall. The lineups for both these festivals are solid, and I’m really looking forward to listening to the bands, both old and newly-discovered, perform some memorable sets!

FYF Festival

When the lineup for FYF first came out, I could not believe my eyes. My Bloody Valentine, one of the biggest and best bands to come from the shoegaze era of the late 80s and early 90s, would be playing a show, most likely with material from their new album, which took over 20 years to release following the band’s critically-acclaimed and influential album Loveless. I’ve read accounts of past MBV concerts, and I know I won’t be disappointed.

Also looking forward to MGMT, Beach House, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Treasure Island Music Festival

I’ve been wanting to go to Treasure Island Music Festival for quite some time now, and this year’s lineup has got to be one of the best I’ve seen. Thom Yorke, lead singer of Radiohead, will be performing  new material with his side-project super band Atoms for Peace. Beck, Animal Collective, and Major Lazer are all huge acts with some great stuff.

I’m also looking forward to Japandroids, Little Dragon, Disclosure, DJ Falcon (who worked with Daft Punk), and Robert DeLong.

Can’t wait for August and October to roll around – in the meantime I’ll be perusing and going over old and new music, getting ready for the festivals.
