End of Fall 2012 and Beginning of Winter Break

Whew. It’s official – I’m done with Fall 2012! While it’s definitely been a ride, I’m glad that I had the experience. I learned a lot this semester, not just from classes and recruiting, but also from experiencing life in college and living every day. And for that I’m grateful.

It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t too bad, either. I felt this past semester, I had the optimal balance between classes, clubs, sports, friends, and time to myself.

Recruiting took up a huge chunk of my time and mental energy. I’m glad I went through with it – you learn best through challenges, and the skills that I picked up through my second go-through will definitely help me in the future.

I’m also glad that I signed up for swimming PE class – the best decision I’ve made this year. I’d forgotten how good it feels to be exercising on a regular basis, especially during the craziness of the school year. PE class kept me accountable, and while it was tough to get back into lap swimming several years past my high school prime, it was for the better and I’m slapping myself for not doing it sooner.

Classes were for the most part interesting. I signed up for more business electives, and most of my classes this semester were group project-heavy, which was a good change of pace. I got to meet new people and work on cool projects in different teams, something that I see as much more applicable to the real world.

Also, I’m (hopefully) done with UGBA 104, forever.

Looking forward to winter break, time to rest up, relax, and explore. I definitely want to read more (finish The Idiot, read Radiohead and Philosophy, and maybe a few other books). Also looking forward to catching up on movies on the AFI list (watched Dirty Harry last night).

I’m going on a camping trip in the SoCal/Nevada desert over the next three days with a couple of friends, finishing up with a quick stop at Vegas. Plus a snowboarding trip planned in a week or so, with another potential trip up the Pacific coast with the family.

In any case, winter break will be a pretty awesome time, and I’m intent on making good use of each and every day. I’ll be updating both of my blogs more, so keep an eye out for periodic posts! Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful holiday season!
