Quote of the Day | Don Draper

Finished the first season of Mad Men. I like.

The following quote was taken from the first episode, when the main character reaches an epiphany on how to market cigarettes, which were under heavy attack by the FDA. I think it sums up advertising in a very articulate and true way.

“Advertising is based on one thing, happiness. And you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It’s freedom from fear. It’s a billboard on the side of the road that screams reassurance that whatever you are doing is okay. You are okay.” – Don Draper

Quick disclaimer: Don’t smoke.
