Food Spotlight | Gott’s Roadside

There’s this popular list that’s been making its rounds on email threads and social networking sites the past few months. It’s called “The 2011 Big Eat San Francisco: 100 Things to Try Before You Die.”

My goal is to hit up at least a few of the restaurants on the list, and I’m so glad I had the chance to try Gott’s Roadside today.

Gott’s is located in the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero, and while it may seem like another modern SF burger joint, it holds one of the best non-beef burgers I have ever tasted.

Behold, the Ahi Burger. Five ounces of fresh Ahi tuna, seared rare with ginger wasabi mayo and Asian slaw on a toasted egg bun.

Amazing. The tuna was fresh, tender, and cooked just enough on the outside to give it the perfect consistency. Everything about that burger was perfect. My friend Ray and I also split the sweet potato fries and garlic fries, both very tasty in their own right.

All in all, a very satisfying dinner, and highly recommended. If fish isn’t your thing, Gott’s also cooks more conventional burgers, and they all look very good as well.
