ABA’s Business Gala

Wanted to plug an event that is near and dear to my heart. Each semester, ABA’s Professional Committee hosts a large-scale networking event to connect freshmen and sophomore students interested in business with representatives from large Bay Area firms.

In an intimate dinner setting, students are able to talk to representatives, ask questions about the industry, and even receive externship offers that allow them to visit a company and learn more about what it’s like to work there.

As Professional Chair, along with my co-chair Lisa, I helped plan last semester’s A Networking Affair. This semester, the Prof Chairs James and Vicki have been hard at work organizing Spring 2011’s Business Gala.

Why should you go? First off, there will be some big name companies there. Apple, Merrill Lynch, and Ernst & Young definitely scream legit. But names and reputation aside, this is a great chance to hone your networking skills and learn more about possible future careers. And that’s definitely worth the $6 entry fee.

There is still limited seating left. I really encourage Cal kids to stop by the ABA table today between 11 AM – 2 PM to sign up – I promise that you’ll learn a lot from attending Business Gala. And worse comes to worse, enjoy the delicious food that will be prepared!
