Food Spotlight | IKEA

During senior year in high school, lunch hour was a time to look forward to. With a lunch pass, we were free to go anywhere we desired for lunch, provided we return to campus in time for fifth period.

And we went everywhere. IKEA was a frequent stop. 50-cent hot dogs, $1 cinnamon buns, and the occasional treat: Swedish meatballs.

Smothered in delicious gravy, with mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam, these meatballs were amazingly good. Today, I went shopping for furniture at the IKEA in Emeryville. As soon as I entered, I felt a familiar emotion: I was hungry, and I wanted food. Wish granted.
