18 Holes of Golf + Sunburn

Today, I went to Arcadia Golf Course with Jared and Tim for eighteen holes of golf. Tim and I arrived at 9:30 am, and while we were waiting for Jared, we bought a basket of golf balls to hit at the driving range.

It’s been two years since I’ve hit a golf ball (used to go to the driving range every once in a while), so it took a bit for me to get the feel again. Then again, I was never that good, so any decent hit was enough to make me happy.

Jared arrived at 10, and we started our golf trek. The course was a par 3 course, so it was smaller than the standard par 4 or par 5 courses. Perfect for beginners like me.

At the beginning, I was okay with the longer drives and decent with the putts, but my midrange shots sucked, probably because I’d never done it before.

As we walked around the course, I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful of a day it was, with the sun shining and the perfect amount of shade from the trees. There was a lot of wildlife, something that I haven’t seen in a long time.

Another thing that I realized was that the golf course is a perfect place for business deals to go down. Tim told me that the shop even sold cigars. The place is just so peaceful, and the walks and waits are good opportunities to chat. Definitely something to get better at for the future.

Gradually, I improved my shots and managed a par and several bogeys. Overall, I still sucked, but I was having a great time. After several hours, we reached the 18th hole. It felt pretty good to finish the course, and we headed out to enjoy a delicious lunch at Wood Ranch BBQ.

It wasn’t until after I’d gone home that I realized my neck was sunburned. Oh well, at least it was a fun day. Sunscreen next time.
