Oh Sufficient Grounds. I hardly knew you. From the rare occasions of eating your wonderfully delicious sandwiches during ABA events, I didn’t doubt your wall full of Best of Berkeley awards.
Tomorrow is April 20. It’s the last day you’ll ever be in existence. And I’m sad. Sad because it feels like I just got to know you, your perpetually free donut samples, your homely corner in Sather Lane, your funny Asian lady who would rush me through the food ordering process and pick what bread I wanted.
And that pastrami sandwich. Mmm…it was delicious. Filling enough for two meals, with the potato salad perfectly complementing the savory bread and meat.
Here’s to the best sandwich shop in Berkeley. Tomorrow is the last day, so everyone should stop by and pay their final respects.
